iFTI Awarded Susan Harwood Safety Training Grant

September 9, 2021

In September, the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced a $196,400 Susan A. Harwood grant to the International Finishing Trades Institute to provide IUPAT employers and members with COVID-19 training.

OSHA awards these grants to nonprofit organizations on a competitive basis through its Susan Harwood Training Grant Program. Grants are awarded to provide training and education programs for employers and workers on the recognition, avoidance, and prevention of safety and health hazards in their workplaces and to inform workers of their rights and employers of their responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act.

The iFTI training will include conducting risk assessments, developing pandemic plans, and pandemic resiliency. The organization plans to revise existing training materials with current infectious disease and COVID-19 information. Training will be in English and Spanish.
