FTI 1230 International Foundation Diversity and Inclusion for Canada
Description: Participants will learn the terms, concepts, skills and knowledge needed to develop and lead an inclusive and diversified workforce. Topics and discussions will include culture, diversity and inclusion; and the impact on decision-making, workplace communication, patterns of influence reflected in the workplace, microaggressions, and building diverse and inclusive teams.
- Define culture, diversity and inclusion
- Understand the impact of culture (includingIndigenousculture) on communication in the workplace
- Learn how unconscious bias affects decision-making, people development and performance management
- Recognize how ingroup/outgroup thinking influences results at work
- Identify patterns that exist when evaluating those who are different from ourselves
- Understand how “microaggressions,” although deemed by the speaker to be unintentional, can affect the dignity of employees
- Discuss practical ways to challenge our biases, change habitual thinking and build diverse, inclusive teams.
